I think that this is wonderful how this Funai? team are, at least, watching this man to see that he is not in peril and that he is healthy. Also that they leave him alone, so that he is not frightened. PLUS, that they leave him seeds and tools...you can see that he used them. I don't know if he will ever not be scared of these "helpers" but he may, after time, realize that they help him to survive. He's getting older, you know. He may very well start needing more help. I am an older lady-I know how that is :) Please take care of him. He's the last of his kind. We have to respect him for that-and when he dies, we have to honor him for that.
